The Vasse Wonnerup wetlands support high ecological values and are recognised as wetlands of international importance for waterbirds.  The wetlands also suffer from poor water quality over summer months.  Report cards are based on annual monitoring of key ecological values and water quality in the wetlands.

The Vasse Wonnerup wetlands Report Card is based on monthly water quality and waterbird monitoring undertaken by the Departments of Water and Environment Regulation and Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions, and annual aquatic vegetation, macroinvertebrate and Black Bream monitoring undertaken by Murdoch University.   The grades for the Report Card are based on monitoring data collected on the wetlands since 2017 or prior following the methodologies outlined in the reports below.
